Occupational Health and safety is integral to any business whether small or large, says founder and Chief Executive Officer of Kronoco Safety Solutions – Latoya Jack.

Ms. Jack during an interview with Business InspireGY said while there is a primary focus of high risk industries, occupation safety and health applies across the board. Globally she said two standards are used and they are general industries and specific industry standards.

“As far as what happens in Guyana we have one blanket standard that covers all industries and all areas of operations. In that general standard that is covered in Guyana there are areas that are applicable to general businesses and overall no risk or low risk industries” she said.

Guyana’s health and safety act she said does not discriminate, as such anyone running a business must comply with the legal regulations and requirements.

“Which simply says, if you are an employer you have the responsibility to provide a safe work space for an employee. It does not segregate nor does it say which industry”.
